Halloween Roleplay Roulette - Roleplay Inspiration!

⏱️ 9 min read

9 Costumes. 9 Characters. 9 After-Dark Adventures.

You bought the costume.

Excellent.

But there's a small problem.

What exactly are you supposed to DO with it?

Because putting on a French maid outfit and standing at the bedroom door saying:

“Bonjour?”

is technically roleplay...

but we've got bigger plans.

😂

This Halloween, we're not simply dressing up.

We're giving the costumes a plot.

A beginning.

A character.

A secret.

A mission.

And perhaps a little twist neither person sees coming.

Think less:

“I'm dressed as a nurse.”

And more:

“It's midnight at St Raven's Hospital. You're the last appointment of the evening, the doors have mysteriously locked, and Nurse Raven knows something you don't.”

NOW we have a story.

Welcome to...

🎃 THE LUBELADY ROLEPLAY ROULETTE

Here's how it works.

Choose a costume.

Read the scenario.

Change absolutely anything you want.

Then decide together where the story goes.

No memorising lines.

No Oscar-winning acting required.

And no obligation to finish the plot.

You're creating the opening scene, not filming a three-hour director's cut.

Ready?

Pick your character.

🩺 1. THE NURSE

Scenario: The Midnight Appointment

LOCATION: A mysterious private clinic.

TIME: 11:57pm.

CHARACTERS: The night nurse and her final adult patient.

THE SET-UP:

You've somehow managed to secure the very last appointment of the night.

The clinic is empty.

The waiting room lights have been switched off.

And your nurse has received some...

unusual instructions regarding your examination.

But before anything happens, there are questions.

How have you been feeling?

Any unusual symptoms?

And exactly what brought you here this late?

THE TWIST:

Halfway through the appointment, the lights go out.

Apparently the clinic has a ghost.

Fantastic.

Now you've got a nurse fantasy and a Halloween story.

✈️ 2. THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT

Scenario: Flight 1313

DESTINATION: Unknown.

DEPARTURE: Midnight.

PASSENGERS: One.

Oh.

This is going to be interesting.

Your passenger has somehow booked the only seat aboard Flight 1313, a mysterious Halloween flight departing just before midnight.

The flight attendant welcomes the VIP aboard.

Takes their coat.

Offers a drink.

Explains the rules.

But there's something strange about this flight.

There is no destination listed on the ticket.

THE TWIST:

The passenger gets to choose one of three sealed destination cards:

PARIS

TRANSYLVANIA

UNKNOWN

Each destination changes the character you're both playing.

Paris?

Mysterious strangers.

Transylvania?

Vampire territory.

Unknown?

You'll have to invent it together.

And yes...

At some stage the flight attendant is absolutely permitted to announce:

“Please remain seated. We're expecting turbulence.”

Some jokes are simply too important to abandon.

😂

🧹 3. THE FRENCH MAID

Scenario: The Haunted Hotel

Forget cleaning the bedroom.

We're going somewhere much better.

You're staying in Room 13 of the Hôtel Noir.

Nobody normally stays in Room 13.

Apparently it's haunted.

Naturally, nobody mentioned this on Booking.com.

At midnight, there's a knock at the door.

It's the hotel's mysterious maid.

She insists she needs to enter because something was left behind by the previous guest.

THE PROP:

Hide an object somewhere in the room beforehand.

A key.

A note.

A mask.

A piece of jewellery.

The maid has to find it.

THE TWIST:

When she does, there's another note attached:

“Do not trust the guest.”

Ohhhhh.

Now we're cooking.

This isn't simply French-maid roleplay anymore.

We've accidentally created erotic Cluedo.

💼 4. THE CEO

Scenario: The After-Hours Interview

Welcome to Blackheart Industries.

Extremely successful company.

Terrible Glassdoor reviews.

😂

It's Halloween night and everyone has gone home except the CEO and one mysterious candidate interviewing for a highly confidential position.

Neither person knows exactly what the job involves.

Before starting, each person secretly writes three fictional questions.

They can be funny.

Flirty.

Personal.

Unexpected.

Then the interview begins.

THE TWIST:

Halfway through, swap roles.

The candidate becomes CEO.

The CEO is suddenly being interviewed.

This is what I love about roleplay: power doesn't have to stay where it started.

Your everyday personalities can be completely irrelevant.

The quiet person gets the corner office tonight.

🐈⬛ 5. THE FELINE FEMME FATALE

Scenario: The Midnight Diamond Heist

THIS is where our Catwoman-inspired costume gets an actual adventure.

At midnight, the priceless Pink Panther Diamond

Actually, the legal department has entered the room.

It has disappeared from a private collection.

One person is the mysterious feline burglar.

The other is the investigator who has finally tracked them down.

But there's a problem.

The diamond isn't where it's supposed to be.

BEFORE YOU START:

Hide a small object somewhere in the room.

That's your diamond.

THE GAME:

The investigator gets five questions.

The burglar may answer:

Truthfully

With a lie

or

Not at all.

After five questions, the investigator gets one guess at where the diamond is hidden.

THE TWIST:

If they find it?

The investigator chooses what happens next.

If they don't?

The thief escapes.

Obviously.

Nine lives, darling.

🚔 6. THE POLICE OFFICER

Scenario: The Halloween Interrogation

There's been a crime.

A serious one.

Somebody has stolen all the Halloween sweets.

We have one suspect.

And frankly...

They look guilty.

The officer begins the interrogation.

Where were you at 10:15pm?

Do you have an alibi?

Why is there a miniature Mars Bar in your pocket?

MAKE IT A GAME:

Before starting, the “suspect” secretly writes down:

Where they were?

Who they were with?

What they were doing?

The officer gets ten questions to uncover the story.

The suspect must answer consistently.

If they contradict themselves?

CAUGHT.

THE TWIST:

The suspect can turn the interrogation around and accuse the officer.

Suddenly...

We have two suspects.

And still no bloody chocolate.

🏁 7. THE RALLY GIRL

Scenario: The Midnight Grand Prix

This one isn't really traditional roleplay at all.

Which is precisely why I want it in the article.

We're combining roleplay + game night.

Welcome to the Midnight Grand Prix.

Create five tiny challenges.

For example:

Best Halloween pickup line

Guess your partner's answer

Halloween trivia

Mystery taste test

30-second costume challenge

The winner gets one point.

First to three wins the Grand Prix.

THE TWIST:

Before starting, both players secretly write what they think the final score will be.

If somebody predicts it correctly?

Double victory.

If you're one of those couples who nearly divorces over Monopoly...

You already know the rules.

Read the room, Gary.

🐰 8. THE BUNNY

Scenario: The Velvet Room

Now we're going completely different again.

No crime.

No interrogation.

No workplace.

The Velvet Room is a fictional members-only Halloween lounge.

One person is tonight's mysterious host.

The other has received an invitation.

But entry requires completing three envelopes.

Prepare them beforehand:

ENVELOPE ONE - CONFESS

A question you've always wanted to ask.

ENVELOPE TWO - CHOOSE

Two date-night or romantic options.

Choose one.

ENVELOPE THREE - DARE

Something playful you're both comfortable with.

The bunny character becomes less about acting like a bunny - thank goodness 😂 - and more about playing the glamorous host of the mysterious club.

THE TWIST:

The guest gets to prepare a secret fourth envelope for the host.

Nobody gets all the power.

🎓 9. THE ADULT PROFESSOR

Scenario: Professor Black's Halloween Examination

Everybody in this scenario is an adult.

And Professor Black has prepared an examination.

Unfortunately...

The syllabus appears to have been completely ignored.

Your partner gets five questions about you.

Favourite date you've had together.

Something you've always wanted to try.

Favourite outfit.

Dream holiday.

Something that instantly makes you laugh.

SCORING:

Correct answer:

One point.

Wrong answer:

The professor reveals the real answer.

Which means the game actually becomes a clever way of learning things about each other.

THE TWIST:

At the end?

The student examines the professor.

Roles reversed.

Because apparently Professor Black also hasn't been studying.

🎭 PLOT TWIST CARDS

THIS is the element I'd add that makes the whole article really stand apart from your other content.

Before your Halloween roleplay night, write these onto scraps of paper.

Put them in a bowl.

Halfway through the scenario...

DRAW ONE.

Possible twists:

The lights go out.

You've been lying about your identity.

Somebody has a secret.

Switch characters.

You have five minutes left.

A mysterious note appears.

Someone has been framed.

The missing object has been found.

You're actually working together.

Someone isn't who they claim to be.

Suddenly a scenario you've played before can become completely different.

The best part? No story is set in stone. Change the character, move the action from a haunted hotel to a midnight flight, add a secret, hide a clue or pull a completely unexpected plot twist. One simple scenario can turn into dozens of different Halloween adventures.

🎃 BUILD YOUR OWN HALLOWEEN ROLEPLAY IN 60 SECONDS

And THIS is where I'd make the article genuinely useful.

Forget scripts.

Use the LubeLady formula:

PICK A PERSON

Nurse,
CEO,
Bunny,
Feline Thief,
Flight Attendant,
Police Officer,
Professor,
Maid,
Rally Girl,

PICK A PLACE

Haunted Hotel,
Private Jet,
Midnight Clinic,
Penthouse Office,
Secret Club,
Police Station,
Mysterious Mansion,
Race Track,
Masquerade Ball,

PICK A PROBLEM

Something has disappeared.

Someone is lying.

You're trapped until midnight.

Someone has a secret.

You're competing for something.

One person isn't who they claim to be.

You've received a mysterious invitation.

ADD ONE TWIST

Switch roles.

Lights out.

Secret note.

Hidden object.

Five-minute countdown.

Done.

You now have hundreds of possible scenarios without needing hundreds of costumes.

👻 THE “WE'RE TERRIBLE AT ACTING” VERSION

No dialogue required.

Seriously.

Write instructions on cards.

One person draws.

Then the other.

You can communicate through:

Notes.

Choices.

Questions.

Props.

Challenges.

Music.

Even text messages from opposite sides of the house.

Roleplay doesn't have to mean performing a character voice for forty-five minutes.

So if your French accent sounds suspiciously Scottish after four minutes?

Retire the accent.

The Hôtel Noir will survive.

🖤 ONE RULE BEFORE THE CURTAIN GOES UP

Plots are pretend.

Boundaries aren't.

Before starting, decide what is:

  • YES

  • MAYBE

  • NOT TONIGHT

And choose a simple word such as “pause” that immediately drops the characters.

That matters particularly in scenarios involving fictional authority - CEO, officer, nurse, professor - because the fun is pretending somebody has power within the story.

The people underneath the costumes still make the real decisions.

And if somebody starts laughing?

Excellent.

Nobody has failed.

You've simply remembered you're two adults pretending there's a haunted private jet in the bedroom.

That's objectively quite funny.

🎃 A Final Word

Perhaps we've been thinking about Halloween costumes backwards.

We bought the nurse outfit.

The maid costume.

The bunny ears.

The police uniform.

The feline mask.

And we think:

“Right. That's the fantasy sorted.”

But the costume isn't the fantasy.

It's the opening credits.

The fantasy starts when you give the character somewhere to go.

A haunted hotel.

A midnight flight.

A stolen diamond.

A secret interview.

A mysterious invitation.

A suspect with a terrible alibi.

Suddenly you're not standing in the bedroom wondering what to say.

You're trying to work out who stole the diamond before midnight.

And THAT is the direction I'd take this article.

Halloween already gives us costumes.

Let's give them stories.

So pick your character.

Choose your location.

Hide the clue.

Write the secret.

Draw the plot twist.

And remember:

You don't need a better costume.

You might just need a better plot.

Roll scene. 🎬🎃🖤💗
